Marathon Monday, Week 3

I can't believe it's already week three!

Monday.... on the schedule was four rounds of intervals. 8 minutes running, 3 jogging. I hate wearing my watch when it's hot, so I used my ipod instead. I ran for three songs and walked for one, which resulted in roughly 11.30 miles. Not very scientific, but it works.

Tuesday.... two miles at the boardwalk. It was insanely hot and humid so we ran one mile and then walked back on the beach.

Wednesday was a rest day, although there was much walking to be had.

Thursday.... 30 easy minutes with strides. I got the strides down but not the easy! 2.7 miles at an 11'17" pace. Crazy warm that day as well.

Friday.... 45 minutes at a medium pace. I ran through the next town and back, which includes two bridges. It was a nice day for a run! Four miles in about 48 minutes, an 11'51" pace.

Saturday was the Fun Run I ran with the teenie. On the schedule was 25 minutes of easy running an do did 18 minutes of speedy running. Oooops. Week three is done!

Marathon Training with Jeff Galloway

As a Galloway Blogger, I get these awesome tips to share with you every couple weeks. Galloway is the plan provided by Disney for all of their races, and it is how many people finish distance races! It is how the teenie and I will finish Princess in February and how I will most likely finish the NYC Marathon!

I have been working on running faster during shorter distances. My Tuesday runs with my friend Denise have been considerably faster and I am hoping that it will affect my long runs as time goes by.
I ran a very hilly 5k last weekend and it was a bit faster. I cannot wait until I start running them more frequently to see how I improve.
I have never really done hill repeats, but I plan to do them as my training calls for them, to prepare for NYC. I don't plan on letting those hills beat me!

As far as long runs, I haven't decided yet if I will run more than 20 in my training runs, other than the Delaware Monster Mash Marathon, which has become a sort of last long run before tapering. I plan to run at least the first 20 before I decide how to handle the final 10k. I may do a shorter run walk run for the final miles.

Do you Galloway?

Marathon Monday, week two

Week one was so great, I went into week two hoping for a repeat! After my race on Saturday, we went to visit my dad, who is finally out of the hospital! It's over three hours each way!
Sunday... we walked the dogs. It's a two Mile walk total.

Monday... I ran errands all day, and had just enough time to get to the park and run for 20ish minutes before Girls on the RUN started. I ended up doing 2 Miles because when I finished my 29 minutes I was at 1.86 Miles and I just can't stop there. It's too weird. Ya know? At GOTR we played capture the flag, so I got in some extra sprints. Teenagers are fast.

Tuesday... 25 minutes at the boardwalk was the plan, but since I did 24 the night before. I was going to sweat the time. Out and back is just over 2 miles, so I was going to stick with that. My friend Denise came again, and trying to keep.up with her, I ended up being faster than last week! After our eun, we walked two miles and then I walked to work and back, for a total of 5.5 Miles for Cinco de Mayo.

Wednesday was a day off. I did a lot of walking, though!
Thursday was supposed to be a 30 minute run but I swapped it with Saturday's run and did 40 minutes instead. It called for medium pace, so I decided to go for a 12 minute pace. Laughable, though, because I used the Nike app, on my phone, tucked into my Running Buddy. I decided to run to the ocean and back, with a few side roads to make up the distance. When I got to the ocean, at the 1.5 mile mark, I paused the app to take some pics and saw that my pace was just over 11. I had felt so sluggish and slow, do I was surprised. The rest of the run pretty much stayed the same. Even with the bridge in both directions. Totally shocked me!

Friday... I had three miles of intervals planned, but we were having pavers delivered, and I had to wait for the delivery guy to bring them. This of course took all day long because the window was all day long and by the time he delivered the pavers is it was time for me to pick up my son from school and run some errands.
Saturday, after a Mother's Day brekky with the inlaws, I finally did my intervals. It was rainy and I had a headache and a runny nose, but I got it done.
week two, over and out.

#fabfitgearswap April Edition

For April, I was swapping with Ashley, who has a Spartan Race coming up. I sent her a post race survival kit. A shiny new towel and some baby wipes for cleaning up when she gets done being a badass.

Ashley sent me Flapjacks, which were yummy. I burned the first 3, but I managed to not burn the rest. Chef fail. She also sent a fun colored headband and a sample of Deep Blue Rub which I put in my running bag for future use. I have heard good things about it, I'm excited to try it!

Have you done any swaps lately?
